Posting on behalf of a prospective Fulvia saviour (after an enquiry for information on Viva-Lancia):

I have found a seemingly abandoned Fulvia 2C in a London car park.

Reg of said car is ENP 627B, would love to save it, it looks very solid and from what the DVLA say seems to have been imported in 2002 as it is a LHD car.

I dont believe anyone cares for it anymore as it has had the quarter light window smashed, and all handbooks seem to be stroon across the car!! I have put a black plastic bag over the window so as to not get wet inside, it sits in an open private car park and at night when all have gone home, sits all on its own!! poor car!

If anyone can help, knows anything about the car, how to find out who the owner is etc the contact e-mail for Frank is:

You can get details of the owner from the DVLA if you have reasonable cause:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/AdviceOnKeepingYourVehicle/DG_4022067

See "more about reasonable cause" halfway down the page.

One reasonable cause quoted under the Data Protection act is :

"abandoned vehicles – to help trace keepers who abandon their vehicles on private property outside the control of local authorities"

I've just looked up on the DVLA as Neil suggests to see what information is held. Copy at end of this reply.
First Registered here 22/2/2002 & Road tax looks like it ran out 1/2/2003 which is just right if it was taxed for 12 months, looks like something has gone pear shaped since bringing it in and when due for MOT, perhaps rust.
It also shows engine size as 1200cc which is incorrect & should read 1091cc.
Do we have any idea how it was determined that it's a 2c ? did it have 2c letter & number on rear panel? (see photo for position)  although it's a 1964 car it is possible that it is a very early 2c, my 2c is registered 1st January 1966 so it's a 1965 built car and is a very early RHD, the only older one was Robin Lacey's 2c which was also a 1965 although on a 'C' plate.
But going by it's age, and no mention of 2c on the DVLA information, I think it's probably a Normale, the very first of the Fulvia's with pretty poor performance,  58 bhp, and a twin choke down draught carb, were not enough to overcome what was a heavy car for the engine. it was because of the disappointing performance of the normale which led to the introduction of the 2c With twin solex carbs + other modifications including changing the subframe mountings.

If it's a pre-2c Normale am I right in thinking that the bumpers will look like the ones in the wonderful photo below?

Yes Your right Lee, only Normale had these overriders, I had a set on my Donor car but Steve Sheppard when he took himself off to France, binned my donor car with them on, as well as a lot of other parts I wanted, he did so without my permission & without telling what he intended doing Angry

Hi Chris,
Yes definitely worth saving as I don't know of another Normale in the UK. I'm already in touch with Frank, he was unaware that such an animal existed, but hopefully with our encouragement he will go for it Grin she is certainly by what I can see in no worse a condition than "Fay" was when I first saw her, and in fact looks a lot better bodily, which is what I would expect if only imported as a runner in 2002?
The colour appears to be Lancia Blue.
I'm out of touch by email for the next couple of weeks as I'm moving, and my little abode where I do my thing in the garden, has to come down to be moved.
But joy of joys I shall have a room indoors in the warm in the new place.
When I'm up and running I shall be in contact with Frank again; I've also asked him for first refusal if he gets it and finds that too much work is required, I haven't really got the space but I certainly don't wish to see it go to a breaker.

I see the Fulvia script on the back panel has got the letter "F" & half the "U" missing, this script is different to the Coupe or Zagato script, but like all of them they were made from Marzak which corrodes away, the good news is that Cessari Ferrari who owned Lee's 2c about 10 years ago, got a new one that was made from a different material from Cavellito's, & kindly obtained one for me at the same time, as far as I'm aware these are still available.
I note that the rear number plate holder/surround appears to be missing.
If you look at my photos of my donor car you will see on the back panel what seems to be a rusty Fulvia Script, it isn't, it's just the rust stain where the script used to be Roll Eyes

Brian,
Thanks for contacting Frank, it so long ago that I owned a Fulvia Saloon that my knowlege is too vague to be much use. I hope it all comes together. I used mine as an only car for about 4 years and did something approaching 100k in it. Still one of the most comfortable cars I have owned.

IMHO the Fulvia S1 saloon is the nicest of the Fulvia variants to own and drive. Eminently suitable as an every day car - ask Margaret!

I once stopped alongside her, she driving our 2c and two goats sat up in the back. Shocked  She had removed the rear seat and was transporting them to a friend who was going to look after them whilst we went on holiday.
