Its appears the Beta's ruined image back in the 70's due to early rust issues, wasn't the first nor indeed the last!

Yes, pick up truck chassis, and presumably those of some SUVs, are not made from galvanised steel, unlike the sheet used to press car bodies. We have a Hilux at work and the chassis was completely brown with rust, or oxidisation as Nissan would say, after it's first winter.
