The pictures show an old Fiat engine I have had in the corner of my garage for about 20 years.
I have just disinterred it with a view to disposal and wondered if anybody could tell me what car it might have come from.I acquired it as payment for a job I did for a chap who had in turn got it with a view to installing it in a Lada Niva--if I remember correctly!
What seems unusual about it to me is the flywheel which is really only a diaphragm to carry the starter ring gear and has very little mass compared with a normal flywheel.I am assuming this is because it was attached to an automatic gearbox.

Based on the water pipe fitting between the cam wheels it's a Fiat motor for a rear wheel drive car rather than a transverse mounted front wheel drive.

Not sure where Fiat put their engine numbers, but on the Lancias of this type it was just above the Oil filter housing stamped into the block.

As mentioned it is out of a rear wheel drive such as Fiat 124 and assuming the cambelt cover label is correct then a later car as 2 litre.
