Things seem quiet on the forum today so I thought I’d post these two pictures of racing lawnmowers.  As background, I was getting some keys made in Southport at a business called Stanley Security Limited.  Above their premises is the British Lawnmower Museum.  I’d read about the museum a year ago in a book by Hunter Davies entitled “The Museum of Baked Beans”, an excellent book about small and often eccentric museums in the UK.  But I’d never come across the premises and there I was with an hour to spare so I took a look around.   It turned out to be a fascinating place for anybody with an interest in mechanical things.  These two racing lawnmowers were impressive, the first a 24” Webb with 300cc Villiers engine capable of 65mph.  If the helmet (resting on the seat in the background) were to fit me I figure I could mow my lawn in about two minutes!

I am sorry to say that you would not be able to mow your lawn with either of those beasts. Included in the racing rules is a requirement to remove the cutting blades ........ some people have no sense of fun!!!!!!!!

Is that so they can't cut the corners?
