Fulvia S2 Berlina KPD 569K graced the roads of central London today! KPD was much appreciated at the informal gathering of interesting cars at Lower Marsh, which is a narrow street on the south side of Waterloo Station. These Saturday afternoon meetings have been taking place for some time, but it was the first I attended. There was an amazingly wide range of cars there and KDP was in good company.

Photos attached show KPD and a very well worn Volvo Amazon, which took shabby-chic to a new level. An admirer was heard to ask whether its finish was known as Amazon Prime! By way of contrast there was also a very special one-off – the WB Special, which was designed in 1956 – a home build that was finished and first licensed in 1963 – absolutely wonderful.

The Lower Marsh gatherings are highly recommended – long may they continue. Interesting cars, all very informal and no fuss with good cafes and eateries close by.

Interesting but what is wrong with KPD's rear wheel? It looks too far forward in the wheel arch???

WB Special is a beauty. Looks like a Lotus XI coupe, if one had been built. Type of thing a privateer would use at Le Mans back then. Any idea of the engine?

In answer to questions:

As far as I know, nothing wrong with KPD’s rear wheel. I think it’s just the angle of the late afternoon sun and a wide-angle lens. Funnily enough, on the way home I think that wheel was well up in the air as we turned left soon after crossing the Camden Road. That was as we were entering north Holloway, or ‘Noho’ as Simon calls it.

I was wholly impressed by that hand made all-aluminium bodied WB Special. More photos attached with a page of information – Coventry Climax engine, inboard-front disc brakes – amazing.

With that spec and aerodynamics I'm surprised it didn't appear at Le Mans. That would have shocked Colin Chapman. Perhaps it did, I'll have to Google it.

KPD’s owner and driver, Simon, is a stickler for accuracy and he has asked me to clarify two things. The Lower Marsh meetings are organised by Darren and they are only on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Also, my reference to NoHo was wrong! It should have been to Lower Holloway – LoHo, not to North Holloway, which is more properly known as Upper Holloway, not that he would dream of living there!

Colin,
Can you let us have dates and post code please.
Is it on every month?

I'm fond of Scooterworks along there.  Where did you end up?
