Old Boot needs a new one.  In days of yore I took the flywheel to a local motor factor and got it back a week later with a new ring fitted but that does not seem to obtain any more.  anyone any ideas please?

Drill a hole or 2 in the flat face of the ring gear, noting which way the lead on the teeth faces and finally split with a chisel down between the teeth. Then if you don`t have access to a welding torch, take it to your local bodyshop with a welding set and they should heat it up and drop it on for you, again making sure the lead on the teeth are facing the correct way.
Hope that helps, that`s the way we`ve always done it.

IIRC Jonathan Reeve is obtaining a quotation for me on behalf of the Consortium. I will remind him.
I think Belcher Engineering, much beloved by a group of Lambda owners, are specialists in this area.

Yes, please pursue this as I suspect quite a lot of people will need one at some time or another!  F W Thornton have nothing suitable.

I think the Australians can supply them, but that might not be economical. If Kim was on the Internet, we could ask him!

That's a long time to wait!   Better than nothing though.  I think it is time the Consortium listed them, I cannot be the only one with a damaged ring.

Never had a single request! I imagined that people had piles of old flywheels lying about. However I will look into it. Tony S

Been there, done that, no joy.
Flywheels are not interchangeable as engine balance depends on what you have in the way of big ends. Conversion to shells severely affects balance as will different pistons etc.
