I think I am right in saying that whilst the DCL seems to be the more desirable variant due to lightness, it is also prone to distortion over time leading to sealing issues around the float chamber which are very tricky to solve.
The heavier DCZ does not have this problem. Interesting that the seller seems to  refer to this in passing.
As to price, whilst it's certainly high and may not sell, the demand for these 40DCL/Z carbs in good condition has been high for some years and yet not high enough volume wise for them to be remanufactured. I can't see this changing no matter how many Aurelias are fitted with Nardi twin carb kits.
At Padova there are always dealers wanting to buy these carbs at ever increasing prices.

I see the one for sale in Italy sold for £1,655 which I would have said was something of a bargain if it was as good as the seller inferred.
