Wanted. Do you have a starter motor for a series one Appia? I have tried later options but nothing works. Any suggestions please.

Hi Peter,
Sorry, I don't have one. I saw a very expensive "refurbished" starter motor at the Padua classic car show last weekend. I thought it might be possible to repair starter motors: maybe you should try to find a good workshop which can rewind motors, replace brushes, etc.
Best of luck

Thanks Andrea its obviously good advice as thats exactly what I have done, but the unit is very, very tired and it would be nice just to pop down to my local dealer and buy one off the shelf! Ha

I'd have it rebuilt (again). If it's done well it will be as good as new.

otherwise buy something like this and make the rallies really "cold" and challenging...and you get a starter motor with it for free...  Grin

Peter,
I have had both my starter motor for my Fulvia and the one for my VX Coupe rebuilt by a local firm. They took a couple of days each time and cost around £70 each with a year's warranty.  That was over 2 years ago and I have had no further problems.  I realise that the Appia's is rather earlier but is there anything special about it?

Thanks PW. I thought you may suggest Stag Lane! If all fails will ask for more help, in the meantime, see you at NEC
