Retromobile, Paris, 3rd-7th February 2016

Lots of Lancia at Retromobile this year, far too many to put all the photos on here, so these are just a couple.
An Augusta with Langenthal bodywork (done in the 1950's) on the Lancia Club France stand.
On the Artcurial auction stand a bright green Delta Hyena, it will be interesting to see if it gets anywhere near its 220,000 to 260,000 euro guide price. About double what the last Hyena at auction made.

The Hyena, Flaminia Sport, and Stratos at Artcurial were all unsold. The 2nd series B20 (which had horrible sills and wheel arches) sold for 149,000 euro (approx £115,500)
At Bonhams The B24 Spyder and Stratos were unsold. The Flaminia 2.8 Convertible made £151,004 inc. The Artena £44,413 inc and the B20 2nd series £111,032 inclusive of premium.

Blimey. I remember not so long ago the price for the D24 was around £300k. I tried to find a way of beginning a conversation with Jacky about it then but actually didn't even bother to start because I couldn't see any way of either justifying it or affording it, even with selling our other cars. Neither did I believe it would go much beyond that price going forward.
So, another lost opportunity........but at least I sleep well each night and I have stayed married!

WOW juts under €200k https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23262/lot/346/ for Flaminia 3C convertible, that must a record, I have seen a few pushing €100k, I thought prices were meant to be stabilising.

Yes, there was once a D24 for around that.

Both my wife and I were lucky enough to catch a ride in a D24 out on the Colorado Grand about 10 years ago, memorable experience. She got mountain curves at 80 mph and straight runs into Wyoming (with no one anywhere to be found) north of say... well, well north of 120mph.... while my ride was in light rain and traffic. Solid, very well balanced, as if someone had simply tightened the Aurelia down, lightened it, given it  a solid bunch of power,  carved all out of one piece. The feeling of one-ness, that all was working together in balance, was the most remarkable. It also felt derived from Aurelias, not something totally foreign. Not surprisingly.

Its been said "you need friends with wooden sailboats", not to own one. But what a ride!

It was the same Paris car I was referring to Geoff. How lucky you both are to have had rides.

I thought you comment was amusing Geoff, I was standing looking at the two cars thinking which one would I have if per chance I had the odd spare million and came to the conclusion that I wouldn't buy either.... but I would have jumped at the chance to drive them!
