Does anyone know who can supply a new seal for my fulvia fuel tank - the one where the filler pipe joins.
Mine has perished to nothing!

I used a suitable diameter O ring 3 years ago, but not too large in cross section, then had to tighten it later as it had a slight drip, so far no further leaks.

Many years ago, I seem to remember that I cut off about 3mm from the large end of the Fulvia radiator top hose, where it goes over the thermostat.  Pretty certain that the diameter was about the same size, and the original seal appeared to be a square section, rather than just round.  Any fuel resistant gasket sealant would probably be a benefit too?

In case my memory has dimmed(!), better check with a pair of callipers first.

The large inner seal of the front brake caliper (S2 Girling type) is a perfect fit for the pipe/tank junction. It has the added advantage of being square in cross-section and thus fitting very well over the tank neck like the original. O-rings can be used, but not rarely they don't seal properly. On several Fulvias I have used the brake seal (used and recycled after servicing the caliper) a few times over the years without ever having a leak. I realize that someone might object to the seal material being not very resistant to petrol, however in my experience this has never failed, Andrea

Having an S1 GTE the Girling seal option was not open to me....but the carefully cut 3mm slice off a Fulvia top hose was perfect last week! Thanks Roddy and the LMC Forum.

I think I sourced a square section seal in the right material (neoprene?) from Omicron.

Glad to see this thread as it reminded me I need the seal. I placed an order with Omicron yesterday for a few other bits so just rang them and added this seal to it - they appear to have them in stock at the moment.

I think I am correct in saying that the original factory seal was square section hence the suggestions to cut a section of a radiator top hose.

Yes, original was square section.  Here's mine as removed from my car, and the replacement from Omicron.  If I recall correctly it was around ten pounds.  Not a lot for such an important connection.

Old seal appears swollen and is brittle so broke on removal.

Replacement with used front caliper seal is a pleasing fit and is holding for now with the help of a bit of gasket sealant.

Very glad to have an easy fix from stock as the Fulvia is my only road legal car at the moment and I’m running out of supplies.

I also got to re-use use a wrench that I had bought for a once-off water pump replacement on a Mercedes 20 years ago.

And I tasted my first few mouthfuls of E5 as I haven’t done any tank siphoning for nearly as many years.
