Hello all, just a little public notice you may find of interest… I know the very mention of 'social media' gets the eyes rolling and the sound of tutting for some LMC members, however for those of you who have not had a chance to look the club Facebook group page heres my little plea to just take a quick look and if you like what you see please join the hundreds of like minded people. We now have close to 400 members from across the globe posting and sharing anything LANCIA related, its such a great platform to ask that technical question you may have not found an answer to, see images of other UK and non UK Lancias or just a place you can quickly post a question or a pic of your LANCIA. Social media (Faceboook or Twitter) will never take the place of this great platform, but its just an additional resource to our club which you may be missing out on. We are also working to get the club Twitter account up to speed, so more info on that very soon but in the meantime if you haven't had a look at the club Facebook page - go on take a quick look here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lmcuk/

Hi Brian
I would say yes as I've been looking occasionally for some time and could see things. I do think that the way forward is to embrace all these things ( for instance I note that the TDC is now only on facebook and the website seems shutdown )
This year I printed off a one page sheet with the social media information for the NEC and it's there on the stand.

Anyone not a member of Facebook (such as myself) just gets a log-in / sign up page when clicking on the above link, so we still cannot see what we are potentially missing. Yes Steve, TDC? Ian (6610)

Can anyone say WHY they dont want to sign up for a FB account, or is it just the principle? If there is a cogent reason not to have a FB account then I will shut mine down. In the meantime I enjoy a number of Lancia related groups of the moment input to my world of Lancia....

Yes Tim, Having read a number of reports about facebook and possible access to information that you can never really remove makes me uncomfortable, perhaps I'm completely wrong, but I just don't feel comfortable with the idea. Alan Cooper often puts Lancia photos my way off facebook, but if I could be reassured that my fears are groundless, then I might reconsider. Brian 8227

Perhaps give only the minimum information to facebook, and for good measure make it false.
If it asks for an email address to get things started perhaps set a new one up for the purpose.
For an additional motivation James Parry's photos are only on Facebook these days...

The only issue I've come across with FaceBook is loss of time I then wish I'd spent more productively.

I'm on the other side of the fence with Brian and Groucho Marx I spend too much time on the internet as it is, and, by reputation at least, Facebook devours time like nothing else! OK, so I am missing out on certain things - I don't have a television either, so that's nothing new As for the Thema Dedra Consortium and James Parry using Facebook exclusively; well, that's their choice, but equally blinkered. I was going to contact James for some work on my Appia, but since he had apparently disappeared off the face of the earth, I have gone elsewhere.

I use facebook and yes, it does consume time, but I am learning where time is well spent and where it is wasted. It can be controlled.
As for losing James, what a shame for both of you. I always have the Membership Register 2011, the hard copy, at or near the top of one of the heaps that constitutes my filing system!! The old ways still have their place!!!!

Unfortunately, as a recently rejoined member, I don't have a Members' Register...
