Having got my back suspension back together I went to start my Y10 only to get no response to the starter. I took disconnected various bits to get the starter motor out but having done a fox and reassembled everything my throttle cable is fouling on the alternator fan. I must have got something routed incorrectly but rather than fiddle about I wonder if anybody can help me out with the correct routing? I have been through my photos and don't have anything giving a clear picture because this area is generally hidden by the air filter housing. The workshop manual doesn't help either. Can anyone post a picture of the space between the carb and the right hand inner wing that shows the route of the various piped and cables?

Frank,
I've looked at my GTi photos but being fuel injection there of no help, I'll try anf find the photos of my 1986 Y10 fire.

Thanks Brian. The trouble is that in usual shots the area I want to see is masked by the air filter housing and the engine block. I am hoping someone with a Y10 Fire might whip off their air filter and take a shot down the back of the engine bay on the driver's side.

Hi Frank
On my Y10 the cable goes down from the bracket on the carb then loops in a u-bend back up from behind the alternator and then back through the bulkhead to the pedal.
Hope the picture is good enough for you to see this.
Ben

Thanks Ben, that should do it. On mine the throttle cable goes through a cable tie onto the trunking going forwards past the suspension turret. That would seem to be what is pulling it onto the alternator fan.
