1985 Y10 Turbo & 1993 Dedra 2000 Turbo

« on: 01 February, 2015, 06:45:39 PM »

Hi All,

I've been to my local motor factors today in the hope that they would be able to help me obtain a new pre-filter, like the one in the picture below.  Alas, they dint have anything, and as expected couldn't even find my car on their database?!  It's the original one and has been on since 1985!  When i tipped it up the crud that came out was amazing!

Anyone know where i can get one?  any links would be much appreciated.  Im not sure if it has to be a certain type to ensure decent flow?  one hole is about 12mm and the other end is about 8mm

Sorry if it sounds a stupid question, but if the motor factors cant find one then, there's hope for me yet!

I'm off to search eBay again Sad

After quite a bit of research last night I've realised that this type of filter is a high flow filter and it does need to be 12mm out and 8mm in for the Weber 30/32 DMTR Carb to do its job optimally

The only one that i have been able to find on the net is the below, which is £60!!!!!! Shocked Shocked

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sytec-Bullet-High-Flow-Alloy-Fuel-Filter-8mm-In-12mm-Out-BULLETA4-/380645521524?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item58a03db874

I'll keep searching in the meantime for an alternative

Hi

As a long term fix, why not just fit a Filter King, they are less money than this and have replaceable elements, quite a popular replacement on older cars. No idea what changes if any to the pipework would be needed, so maybe not a simple swap, but makes life easier in the future.

Turns out the number I was given for the filter was wrong! Now have the correct number, entered it  into ebay and hey presto a new filters on its way!

very satisfying indeed!  not ready to use yet, i'm cleaning under the wheel arches. There was 40000000 layers of thick black underseal. after long conntempaltion as to whether i should remove or not, I made the final decision to remove the grunge and have found gleaming as new paint work underneath. The oil pipes going to the oil cooler were worn and chafed so i have those to fit as well now.  Then it's renovated wheels back on and off for more cleaning.

This is my favourite thread and I can't wait to see the car.

Is there a chance of more photos here?  Will you be doing a write up for Viva Lancia?

Just spotted this on eBay - and the seller has other new old stock Y10 panels. When are you ever going to see another?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-old-stock-genuine-Lancia-Y10-mk1-offside-front-wing-part-number-7608214-/291400890172?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43d8d8b73c

If the price is right it's something not to be missed? I lay up stocks of stuff like this on the premise that when you've got it you never need it!

No connection the the seller.

All the Y10 panels add up to £320? Might be worth making an offer for a job lot price?
