Very nice Berlina GTE here....price is optmistic I think!! But it has a very nice auxiliary heating system installed which I never seen before. No doubt an aftermarket fit but nevertheless very "in keeping" I thought.

I knew Fulvias were increasing in value but this is very optimistic albeit a very nice example.

Very optimistic, but it's beautiful, looks as if it's been resprayed?
I'd love the heating system as mine in useless despite many attempts to improve things, similar to what I've seen fitted to air cooled VW's, mainly campers.

The standard heating system on our GTE works superbly - not quite sure why but presumably because all the waterways and valves are totally clear. On this GTE for sale, the GTE badge on the radiator grille is in the wrong position I think. Also at that mileage and age I would be very surprised if it hadn't required work on the sills and possibly the A post base and wheel arches. Lovely car though in a super colour and very useable.

Chris,
Interesting that your heater works well as it's no doubt it's the same as mine, I've had the heater radiator rebuilt twice, once soon after  "Fay" was put back on the road in 1999, at the same time the heater box was cleaned and repainted, all the seals were replaced around the heater box and the heater radiator, so none of the airflow should be leaking off anywhere, the second time was when the heater radiator split an end plate soon after coming back from Turin in 2006, the heater box filled up with coolant (no leaks) until it started to run out of the lower heater flaps, which necessitated Diane holding a collapsible bucket underneath the flaps to catch the coolant when it slopped out during cornering, until we got home.
I've no reason to believe that there's a problem with the waterways, so I'm stumped Huh?
I agree the GTE would be lovely to own, and I like the colour too.

Looking at the photos again, and being very picky, I am not sure I like the shape of the external rear view mirror. Although the car is very rectangular I still think a round mirror would be better. Last year there were a couple of very low mileage < 10,000 km totally original GTE's for sale in Italy but not at this price level. Rather ambitious I would have thought for a Berlina but the fcat of the matter is that a good one is a lovely thing to drive so who knows?

I hope they've kept the rear number plate holder frame!
two points,
I thought Contintal Fulvia Berlinas had clear indicator lenses, not orange?

Are the interior door pulls correct? I thought they were the clear ones the same as on my 2c.
Last point is that there's a very nice completely restored for sale in Italy for euro 6500 with under 10,000 kms on the clock, which makes this one even though it is a GTE, sound very expensive, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and we'll have to wait and see if anyone is prepared to pay that price for it.

I haven't looked at Fulvia Berlina prices/availability in Italy for a while but following this series of posts I had a quick look a minute ago.
Firstly, there is a Fulvia GT in good condition for sale for €20,000 on Subito.
Also there are quite a few S2 Fulvia Berlinas in apparently good condition for sale from €4,000 up to €15,000. (Back in the 70's I formed the view that the S2 Sedans were made from inferior steel to the S1 examples and also that the S2's were not as well made as the S1s - is this fair?)
There is also a lovely very early 1964 single carb 1100cdc 50,000 km Sedan for sale for €4,500 on ebay.
So ASKING prices for apparently good Berlinas have certainly risen since the last time I looked.

This is when a car that good does not get driven......So it begs the question, would anyone not interested in driving one pay that money???

Depends if you bought it as an investment, certainly no a very good one if you convert it's original price compared to what is being asked for this one.
As far as I'm concerned if it was mine I'd drive it, what a waste to own something like this and not drivie it Roll Eyes
Fay had 27,000 miles on the clock when she went back on the road in 1999, recently I equalled that mileage in my ownership, every moment sheer pleasure,  or at least nearly all  Wink

Brian your FAY is for driving and you have been improving it along the way. This car has just popped out of a full restoration and seems mint....not to say FAY isnt mint but in a much more useable way if you get my drift....I agree it is a poor investment proposition.
