If you're feeling a little down then the sound of this will put a smile on your face!
More than five Aprilia engines per cylinder, what an amazing machine.

Thanks Noel, that's brilliant!  Smiley

I guess we've all been through that scenario at sometime. I well remember the moment that Modestine's engine ran for the first time after weeks of fruitless effort. I actually phoned various friends so that they too could listen so excited was I. Huh?

I'd seen this on the pistonheads site yesterday on their south-west forum page saying it's coming to Queen's Square early 2015 (our local classic car meetup) - if it does and I see it then I'll report back ! Smiley - it is quite awesome ....

Typical old Fiat......burns oil, chronic mpg and makes a mess on the driveway.

Brilliant, lovely sound Shocked
Who needs exhaust pipes and silencers when you can have open stubs emitting flames,
That open chain drive looks a tad worrying if it let go.

If you fancy building your own here's a nice kit. http://pocher-protar-custom.com/FIAT-MEFISTOFELE.html

This was up until recently a rare and expensive 1/12 kit (around £800 if you could find one) and was mainly metal. It's now been re-released using mainly plastic by Italeri for around £100 on Ebay.

It was only looking at the photos of the kit I realised its a 6cyl not a 4.  The photo above from the driver's side is my favourite.  Look how low the cylinder barrels are and hence how low the crank must be.  That's an enormous stroke length.

Now I realise the kit is a different car.

Page 3 of this gallery has some engine photos, the scale is boggling:

Yes - the kit is of the car shown in the posts by Sliding Pillar - it's the 1923 LSR car, not the Beast of Turin.

At the Goodwood Festival of speed about 10 years ago it was towed to start it whereupon we were treated to an incredible sound track, but as it sat on the line water was pouring out the bottom which was being replaced at the top at the same rate, it didn't however stop it going up the hill in style.
