Can anyone suggest the best way to undo the 'brass' connection where the filler pipe meets the tank. If it's simply a case of unscrewing it with large plumbing pliers (as one member has already suggested to me the other week) then clearly mine is sticking like the proverbial to a blanket!  Is there a special tool that engages with the notches/ castellations?

Hi Mark, try a large jubilee clip or two, tight enough to grip the nut but not over tight to damage it, I tried this method with my S2 plastic nut, I expect it work on a S1 car too.

Oooh, interesting idea Smiley

Then what? Plumbing pliers round the jubilee clip or knock the worm roller with a hammer & screwdriver?

It sounds the same as a Flavia.  I bought a "C spanner", I think from Halfords.  It was a floppy one like this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Laser-4930-50-120mm-Adjustable-Wrench/dp/B00449CEPW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1412543831&sr=8-2&keywords=c+spanner

Lots of WD40 over a period of some days and it came very easily.

It was Machine Mart.  Here's the thread:

http://www.lancia.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6204.30

...and the link to the product page:

https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/laser-4930-adjustable-hook-wrench-50-120mm

Been a while since I've had time for it.  Its either kids or the garden while the list for the house gets longer.
