While looking at the Bella Lancia Facebook page re the end of Lancia speech, I scanned down only to see photos of a very nasty racing accident to an Aurelia in Ireland, and I immediately thought of Kevin, and found that this was confirmed by commiserations from Louise Kennedy and Chris Gawne, two more of our Aurelia Racers,
I do hope that Kevin got away without being injured, but it must be heartbreaking for him to see the condition of his beautiful B20 after so much hard work that has gone into it, let alone his love for it.
Hopefully one day we will see it returned to it's former glory, but I doubt it will be any time soon Cry

Just had another look and it seems Kevin is a bit like James Bond's Martini, Shaken not stirred as someone else put it!

He's fine - other than his pride.

Indeed, I can only wish Kevin all the best in both getting the B20 back on the road and getting back in the saddle when he can.

Best wishes Kevin and hope you are soon over the effects of the accident.

I sincerely hope the car is soon back in good order.

Thanks for the concern. I´m fine, not a scratch. Roll cage, harness etc all did thier job. Car is fairly bad but not unrepairable. It´s not the first time I´ve crashed in a race, although I can safely say I´m in a unique club in rolling an Aurelia.
I´m on holidays at the moment so I´ll post a little more details when I´m back.

I think "mine" was rolled - the owner before the one before the one before me.  His name will come to me...

Commiserations, but if anyone can repair it, Kevin can.

Pleased to hear that all the safety equipment did their job.

If the car needs a new rollcage as part of the rebuild, give me a shout
as I have just removed my Safety Devices full cage with door bars etc that was tailor-made for my S4
(fortunatley never rolled as they say).

Best of luck with the rebuild.

Glad you are ok. Cars can be fixed, people are harder.

...not always - in this book (below) there's a picture of the owner/restorer with a gashed head from when he fell keeping both hands on the precious engine cylinder head.

An excuse to post back to a Formula Junior thread:

The single choke sidedraft carb is interesting - I saw six similar ones on an Alfa recently.  Is that a "normal" Appia head?   Anyone spot exactly what the box is?  I can't remember what makes an early or late Aurelia box let alone between them...

Just thought I'd stick this up as something to aim for with the rebuild.

Up on three wheels there's no need to worry about it tracking or crabbing.  I wish I could remember the name of the racing driver who pointed this out to his setup obsessed team mate.
