I have had one of these break.  I have been talking to John Vessey and he has heard of one other but, as they are probably made from Mazik this may be the beginning of a trend and we are thinking of having some made.  Has anyone got a spare to act as a pattern?  I shall try to make a drawing but the real thing would probably be more use (I am mending the old one with a steel strap and some superior plastic metal).

If you mean the mag/dynamo as fitted to Lambdas up to the eighth series, I have a spare in pieces, so I'll find it in the morning. It's a common fault with the Bosch starter motors, but I didn't know the dynamos were suspect.

Found it! This one looks like it has brass brush holders, and they look as though they will last for ever. You are welcome to borrow it, if it helps.
Regards, John

That is different from mine which are cast in Mazic.  Perhaps Bosch had better thoughts...  I wonder then how many people have the mazic ones and how many the brass ones.

I'll have a look at the one on my car, as it wasn't charging much and it's time the brushes were cleaned (or freed!) Last time I rebuilt it was quite a few years ago in the hotel carpark in Varallo, when it stopped charging altogether.

Just had a look at Sheila's (VIII serie) which are brass.  Looks like Bosch tried to save a bob or two.   At least my repair has worked (so far).   The one repaired is the insulated one, the earthed holder is different!
