Beta Vacuum Advance Unit & Engine Mount
«

Pretty unlikely I know, as most Betas have the Bosch distributor, but if anyone has a spare vacuum advance unit for the Marelli distributor (SM806AX-764R2). Alternatively has anyone every repaired (ie changed the rubber diaphragm) on the unit?
I'm also after a serviceable front engine mounting if there are any around?

Neil, I have a spare vacuum distributor and about 4 engine mountings in South Africa.
I expect to be bringing them back with me to the UK in December if you can wait...

That would be great. The MOT runs out at the end of December, so early January would be fine. No rush at all for the dizzy, though as above it isn't the more common Bosch type.

Just bumping this one on the engine mount. Remarkably I got an ultra rare (and normally expensive) Marelli distributor but am still looking for the more (you would think) hum-drum engine mount. It's the large 'pulley end' mount. Out of stock at Betaboyz because of non return of surcharged items.

Is this the one?

Cheaper but may take longer to arrive from Germany..

Neither includes the plate/bumpstop bolted to the top of the subframe but that part rarely fails?

Guy, yes I'd seen the one on UK eBay. They had one a couple of weeks ago which sold in less than an hour so at £100 a pop they must have gone back for a bigger supply (they have 10). As you say it's the rubber parts that fail.

I had a brand new one on the Stratos replica back in 1988/1991 when I first built it with the Volumex engine. It lasted 4 years before spirited driving tore it apart. I guess the damper on the offside inner wing does something after all....

Yes both of the engine dampers are rusted solid, which has probably done for the mount. Luckily I bought a pair of dampers when the Beta Forum did a group buy.
