Firle it is! I havn't been there to my knowledge, nor to Prescott unfortunately.Not the South Downs but the North Downs,  here is a venue near to Maidstone, which would be nice to revive, but no doubt plenty of 'red tape' compared with the time the black and white photo was taken. Also one from the bottom of the climb.

Looks more like a trial than a Hillclimb!

It does look like a trial, I found the black and white photo on the wall of 'The Dog and Gun' (where there is plenty of chat from the local petrolheads every other Sunday 5-7PM) Caption reads "Hillclimbing was easier in a sports car. It was a sport with a substancial following in the 1950s and 1960s. This Sunday scene was at Boxley'. Haven't been able to find anything more about it though. Richard
