Brilliant.

Anyone got a photo of a Lancia taking the air ferry?  Watching Top Gear and remembering the Sea Cat I thought of the hovercraft and before that the plane.  I had a go on the hovercraft but alas not the plane.  Anyone here do it?

Yes David, done that, also the hovercraft and, of course, the ferry. However, unfortunately, not one of them has been in a Lancia.  Also, I have yet to use either Eurotunnel or Eurostar. I believe there is still time, I am not that decrepit, yet, but regrettably, I seem to be inexorably heading in that direction and at a faster rate than I would like !!!!

The plane was an experience. My first ever flight and in a rather ancient beast. I had not expected the wings to flap, even at the age of 16 I thought that lift was due to the aerofoil profile of the wings!!! Also, as we were camping we had a gas cylinder in the boot of the car, specifically prohibited by the operator. Anyway, we made it without anything going pop !!!!

So, all I have to do now is get a Lancia roadworthy and head off in a generally southwards direction and see what happens. That is a worthwhile ambition!!! Let's hope there are some newsworthy things to report in 'A B20 Story' very soon.

Did the eurotunnnel last year on the Monte Carlo or bust run last April, will be doing the double crossing again in May to France, from Dublin via England

Not quite an air-ferry, but very much a Lancia!

Great photos......I suppose in their day the most modern and fabulous ways of getting around aka Lancias latest models meeting up with 100s of years of how to get something big onto a boat or across a sea......fabulous

The  photo captioned "Gismondi" seems to have cropped up in VL (May) with info requested, (although the picture is not as clear as Colin's). Also found Gismondi in this list http://www.oka.urban.ne.jp/home/marie/jp/results/all.txt

I think this shows what some of us have regretted for some time – that the LMC exists in different circles that rarely overlap. In this instance VL! and the Forum. The origin of the photo that I posted on the forum in February is explained in an email from John Turner to me in March 2011 – it read:

Colin

Many thanks for the help yesterday, I am at last making progress.  I could not resist passing on this photograph that Bill Jamieson has sent (he was sent it by Falchetto's son) of Vigin Gismondi and his wife on a promotional tour of Italy with the prototype Lambda in 1923.

John

I think Gismondi was a friend of Vincenzo and works driver.
