I'm enjoying my usual Friday working at home day when I spotted a DVLA camera van : came into the road, turned round and drove away again. Four cameras mounted on each corner , presumably for number plate recognition ... never heard of these before and I guess that an untaxed car on the drive that isnt SORN would be picked up ?

had one of the same type of van outside my unit on private ground, didn't stop them giving young owen a £280 fine for not declaring his cinquecento sorn but was clearly not in use, they gave him 2 weeks to mot and tax his car after paying the fine otherwise they would come back for the car and crush it! easy revenue

Clear bit of trespass there. Law Enforcement agencies can only enter private land on authorisation of a Deputy Chief constable (or equivalent - the Police Act 2002? Can't see that they'd have that for a routine sweep.) The Road Traffic Act might give them some right of entry but I think this would be limited.

He could have lodged an appeal, though the complexity of it would probably have involved legal advice of some sort and the associated potential cost. Nasty business if they have overstepped the mark. Might be worth a letter querying under what power they entered your premises.
