From RTCC and now off to a fortunate new owner! I found this car today by chance locally in a nearby garage and I understand it is to be used for continental touring before going to Australia.Well presented in new paint and drives well but with the initial challenge from the gear selection lever!best regards richard

AH! all is now explained, so that's where it went, if it was just a case of finding the reverse ok, but if it was very stiff then it might be that the plastic? bearings either side of the selector balls in the gearchange mechanism are breaking up, I had the same problem years ago and John Brain made some replacements, but when I called into Cavellito about 2004 he came up trumps with a big bag of new/old stock so I bought about a dozen, a set of 4 went to a friend in Holland who'd experienced the bearings breaking up while out driving, his equivilant of the AA had got him going again with a couple of corks as a temporary measure!
do you have any contact details for the owner as I'd love to know the chassis & engine numbers, and when first registered in Italy, it's slightly newer than "Fay" but those details would help me get a more accurate date of when "Fay" was built.

What a shame this car isnt staying in the UK. I think it was a good one. Do the bearings you are talking about Brian only apply to the column change? Forgive my ignorance.

Finding  reverse was the only difficulty, and a useful anti-theft device when parked down hill with the front to a wall! The column change could facilitate the use of a front bench seat for three people I see.The steering wheel is the one I fancy and I rather like the amber door handles.Anyhow once on the move a lovely car, with column change easy to use and LHD not a problem. I understand the new owner hasn't seen it yet but should be pleased when he does.Brian,I have sent contact details in a PM.richard

Richard, excuse me for pointing it out, as I expect you realise it, but I think your lens could do with a clean.

Chris, I've just looked in the Tavoli and can see nothing equivilant with floor mounted gear changes. in the first illustration the bushes are item 43, and in the second item 27, the rubber boot that protcts the joint also always seem to be missing.
I'm also sorry to see it go to Australia as it would be nice to be at a Lancia meeting without being the only example for a change!
