Finally left Footman James after 13 years of them insuring "Fay" my Fulvia 2c, my qoute this year was £128, while for the same cover except for a limit of 1500 miles (adequate these days) from Hagerty's was £87.75.
Contacted FJ and told them of Hagertys quote, but the best they could come up with was £109.

I need to renew cover for my Sedan soon.I have contacted FJ by email but only an auto reply so far.apart from the current year I was with FJ since 1993.tried CN this year at lower cost + breakdown cover included.but ot all documents arrived.made a call about that but told to try a different (non freephone)number with no option  of being transfered.what I would like is a policy to cover Fulvia, Flaminia,Zagato,VW van and Triumph Bonneville.suggestions welcome!will go to Swinton down the road maybe.richard

Richard I'd certainly recommend you try Hagertys, they only deal in Classics, no modern cars.

They also cover quite a few replicas but it does depend on the date of registration! I've been with Hagertys for years now, cover for the Stratos is about £250 a year for 5000 miles. Also includes breakdown recovery and, I found out when we went to Turin in 2006, that the continental mileage didn't count towards the annual total! Swwet!

I left FJ too this year. They quoted £140 and I got the same cover from Lancaster for £80. In the past I've had a cheap year with Lancaster to be hit with a hike the following year, so will bear Hegertys in mind. Hadn't heard of them. FJ don't seem overly bothered about keeping our business?

Never was the case until they were taken over by Aon, previously I'd tried Aon as they were the LMC's recommended Insurer, but I never found them helpful or competitive, unfortunately the attitude seems to have spead to what was FJ. Great Pity.
Perhaps the Committee should look to see if they can get the same deal with Hegerty's as the clubs recommended insurers, as they do with Aon, or at least for the older models.

Its easier in Australia.  its Shannons, or, er, Shannons.  Didn't blink an eyelid covering my Delta, even though its probably the only one of its type they are going to encounter over here.  They probably knew it would take me a year to negotiate the paperwork and get the thing on the road as well...

After more years than I care to remember with Clarksons then AON then Footman James (all with the same insurer) this year I asked Adrian Flux for a quote, result several hundred pounds cheaper only differences 3000 miles per car and higher excesses.  Policy with Hagerty.

Adrian Flux are LMC partner brokers, brought in when F-J stopped taking LHD new clients. they use a panel of insurers including Hagerty and the Club benefits so if you want a quote from Hagerty ask Adrian Flux.

Thanks Don,
I wasn't aware of that, is it likely to be a better quote going direct to Hagerty?

Not sure if there is any difference in price but the club gets a financial benefit.

I have renewed my cover with CN who were first to answer the phone.Fulvia Sedan and Flaminia PF 1500miles each . Total £190 inc breakdown cover. This is less than the £216 quoted initially as the person spoke wasn't forthcoming with the "multi-car discounts available" which appears in the CN ad.Also tried Chris Knott but couldn't get through on the advertised Hastings number. VW van sorted with Swinton in the high st.at 40% less than last year. Richard

Hi folks
I have a 1998 Delta HPE 16v Turbo (obviously LHD) and the only company that would insure me AT ALL were Adrian Flux. FJ didn't want to know. I am 46yo and have a 3000 mile limited policy costing £360 with £250 excess. They refused agreed value last time however and it's up for renewal next month. Will check out Hegertys although my vehicle may be too new by the sound of it!

Hi Ian

You could try Classicline ( based in Hinckley) for your Delta, have had my integrale with them for a couple of years now .We recently added Margaret's 2005 Alfa GT 3.2 V6 which although a modern car they have put on a 'classic type ' policy , agreed value , 3000 miles etc. Always found them very helpful.

Yes, same for me I've been with ClassicLine for a few years and they're good. Mine's on an agreed value, limited mileage and I can use it for work (should I need to).

Also unless declared to be "off road"by means of a "SORN" vehicles need to be insured as the law demands at all times.richard
