« on: 13 February, 2012, 09:56:07 PM »

I came across this while browsing. I think this is what lancia needs, somthing with a bit of modern style with styling cue to Lancias of old.

Looks like a rehash of this Kappa based one in the Biscaretti Museum in Turin 2006.

Yeah Brian it kind of looks like the Kappa in the Biscaretti Museum , I rember seeing it when I was there in 2006, Iv'e got to admit that . The modern rendering looks more agressive in the front end , I like the lights the way the slope down and point towards the grille. I also like the two tone paint. Looks retro but modern. At this stage the new Delta is a little dated and a face lift like this would do it a lot of good.Thanks. David. Smiley

Hi Dave,
I agree it's an improvement and I do like the 2 tone it really suits it, unlike the 2 tone on the new Ypsilon when it includes the clamshell bonnet.
I did see another one that was similar back in 2004 when on a private visit to Lingotto but I can't find the photos of it. Roll Eyes

The area of identity in the 21st century is one where I feel Lancia still hasn't found a happy place to be.

Is Lancia a maker of beautiful stylish GT cars (like the Aurelia or Flaminia), must-have motorsport cars (like the Stratos or Delta) or small nimble cars of great quality and character (like the Aprilia or Fulvia)? To my mind we don't see any of this old verve and direction with Lancia being pushed into a no-mans land caused by its parent company owning other makes that fill those credentials (Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Abarth etc.) and having to platform share with Chrysler.

I agree with Dave the Imperiale is going in the right direction but it's still not there. I just don't identify it as a Lancia. It could be any car from Infiniti to Lexus ... even a Ford.

But we've seen some wonderful recent concepts and interpretations which to me are very much Lancia and which I would get excited about. What does anyone else think?!

Fulvia Concept was a missed opportunity.  Far better than VW Beetle rehash and even big MINI.

Could have made it more limted edition in Ally and moved on technology wise from there on further models - in the way Audi has introduced Ally since A8 and A2.

I agree, it doesn't do it for me, it looks similar to the Infiniti off roader, definately a far eastern type vehicle.

I don't think it's far eastern looking, but trying to incorporate the Lancia "shield" grille in to the design makes the front look to tall. With moderm pedesterian safety and crumple zones the designers are left with very little scope to produce a design that looks classically Lancia but modern. I agree the Fulvia concept was a missed opportunity as the Fiat 500 was launched just after and look at the success it is, I even bought one brand new ! The other problem is the parents have to many adopted kids, which one is going to get all the attention ? The biggest seller in the main stream of course , Alfa, Fiat, ect. You could discuss this all night and not come up with the answer. I like retro design it appels to me and many others, but look at the Germans, Audi BMW ect, modern design , sleek and aggressive , and not a bit retro. Thanks. D :)David.
