Like it or not, we are in many respects anoraks... and spotting their subject, whatever it may be, on film is part and parcel of the anorak identikit.

Certainly doesn't worry me!

Do you really mean anorak?  Or is it a parker, cagoul, wind cheater, bomber, ski blouse, walking jacket, blouson...?

For me I'll settle for "unrepentant geek".  For others I particularly like "cognoscente" and "aficionado".

We are of course, as we see ourselves, Lancisti and enthusiasts but what I believe Brian was referring to was how we may be seen by others.

However our self-awareness in this regard probably makes lit less likely that we actually are anoraks

p.s. Behold, the recent post of HF Dave, Latter Day Irish Prophet, who foresaw this discussion in a recent vision:

Ireland is ahead with the series, my wife called me in to see a Fulvia sedan in Lancia blue on the programme this evening. It's a great way to justify to your wife why I have all those classic Lancias. Because they were the best in their Day !!!  Cheesy

Fairly sure the whole series is shot in the US with lookalike locations and cgi, but they've certainly pulled out the stops on the classic cars!

I can see I will have to catch up with the Beeb's iplayer, having missed all up to now.
Consequently, I don't know if the following was revealed. I very much doubt it.
Episode 3 is entitled "Ich bin ein Berliner".
This famous phrase caused some amusement at the time in Berlin, due to JFK's pronunciation of the word "Berliner".
To a genuine Berliner, his word referred to a type of doughnut consumed in that City.
So what he said to Berliner's ears was "I am a doughnut".
The next time you see that particular speech from newsreel, listen. Are they cheering or laughing?
