Re:-"I would quite like to experience a trip down to goodwood however for me it is not just a day out and more of a long weekend.
As with a lot of events they are listed but leave it upto your own devices to find somewhere to stay.
what I and probably a few of us more northernly challenged owners would require would be a bit of local knowledge on information regarding known  good accommodation that will also include a secure place to leave said motorvehicle."

Yes a very good point - I will get the data together and post it here and also get it into VL!

Brian, I have downloaded and printed off the form, as discussed on Sunday I will volunteer again this year to assist you and book a half day session if possible.

Still working on this one, it's a brilliant day out and don't really want to miss it.
To anyone who's never been before or in the least bit concerned they may get in the way or not be quick enough, we all felt like that the first time out so get down there and enjoy it at your own pace, no-one cares how slow or fast you are, it's NOT a race, it's just a chance to drive and enjoy both your car and the scenary Wink

The main track Marshall will take you out
for a sighting lap, really helps get a feel for
the track and how to behave.

I would quite like to experience a trip down to goodwood however for me it is not just a day out and more of a long weekend.

Hi NIc,
Have done some work on accommodation and secure parking.

Arrangements made with Goodwood whereby entrants may leave their cars in the covered paddock bays before 17:00 on Friday 6 April. The whole site will be locked up shortly after that time and then patrolled by roaming security guards throughout night. Gates are unlocked at 07:00 the next day.

Accommodation is widely available in the area. Cheapest option in the Travelodge at Fontwell - there is a Shell garage opposite which sells all grades also. Try this link for B&B - www.chichester-bed-breakfast.co.uk
Good accommodation also in the very quiet village of Charlton - try googling Woodstock House or The Fox Goes Free.

regards and hope to see you there

There are two Travel lodges at Fontwell , Arundel Fontwell, by the roundabout and Garage and perfectly acceptable when we stayed there last year before going onto Beaulieu on the sunday, the other is alongside the racecourse. and Arundul Fontwell Park, I think the first maybe slightly cheaper, whereas the Fontwell Park is newer.

this is just a test to see if this is in bold as specified or just book-ended by the codes!

 - later - so reading my own post I see it does actually work BUT the Help item on BBCs says that it is only necessary to Preview the post to see what it will look like - BUT this does not work for me I just get the post book-ended by the codes!

Now if only I knew where to post this message to to get somebody to explain what is going on.

regards - and please do sign up for the trackday!!!

thanks for the updates regarding places to stay guys, what i was after and some of the hotels  you have answered this from staying there, was the local knowledge of where is good, as you know you can easily google places to stay but they don't tell you you're going to be stopping in a hotel that is in an area of top car crime nor do they tell you that the hotel itself is only suitable for adults or that the hotel is known to be pants to the locals, etc.. i think you know where i'm coming from.

Hi Nick

When we go to the Goodwood Festival of Speed we always stay at a very nice small B/B in the pretty village of Wisborough Green
which is a 20-25 minute (entertaining) drive north east of Goodwood. Safe parking, it's situated down a quiet country lane and within 10 mins walking distance from a couple of nice pubs in the village. Contact Sally Slater (The Hawthorns) on 01403 700030.

spent ages trying to get on to the Travel Lodge site and eventually found they are not discounting the Fontwell hotels I guess due to the time of year.

Got a £10 billet (Travlog) at Liphook which is only 17 miles away...

Same problem, so I might make it a day trip as usual, just for a laugh I had a look for Festival of Speed and the revival Shocked about £130-£150 per night, yeh, Right!
