I have had a plea for help from Martin Buckley who wants Flavias for a photo shoot, presumably for Classic & Sportscar.

Martin is looking for good examples of all the variants: Early saloon, Milleotto shape saloon, 2000 sedan, Early Coupe, Flavia 2000 PF Coupe, 2000HF, Vignale and Zagato.

Martin says he can sort a location reasonably good for all concerned and pay fuel and buy lunch + provide set of pics and mag with published story. Martin would be insured to drive cars and if people want cars used, but are not around to drive them he can arrange collection.

Sounds like a good day out for anyone fortunate enough to own a Flavia!

Contact Martin direct on 07798 797 262. Or by email through me.

Hi Colin, have you taken on the onerous press relationship position from Chris now he is departing? A hard act to follow.

Can't wait to see the article but it's a fantastically ambitious request, especially re the early saloons.

Peter, No, it's just that Martin and I and Flavias go back a long way. And Chris is working on this too.

Neil, Yes, it's ambitious, but worth trying. Let's hope it happens.

Yes, good luck to Colin - this is a big task.  I've tried once for Martin, and we couldn't get all our ducks lined up in a row.  Love to see it happen.  I'm doing as much as I can for a chap leaving the country imminently... Shocked

Has this been circulated to the Flavia Consortium? I haven't heard from them lately so my membership may have lapsed.

I still have a fairly recent e-mail list of Consortium members and can circulate the message if this has not been done.

Is there a timeframe for the operation?.

Alan,

I think Martin tried the consortium but for some reason drew a blank. I am sure Martin would be grateful if you could make some contacts. I think he already has a Zagato and a Vignale, and ironically I guess it’s the other models including the saloons that are more scarce.

The issue will be, as always, whether the owners with the very rare cars can make it to the location, at the time and date specified.  Twas ever thus, and is particularly challenging when you are trying to get many cars together at the same time, and some of those cars are vanishingly rare, with perhaps only one or two examples in the country.

I circulated the request to the Flavia Consortium and a member (TB) has offered Martin his Flavia 815 Berlina if the shoot is convenient to the Sussex (Ashdown Forest) area. He also has a Vignale available but logistical difficulties with bringing both cars.

Another Consortium response received today from Michael Oxberry (Flavia PF Coupe) which I have passed on to Martin and Colin.

Last minute hic-up! The Flavia 2000 HF that might have done the job looks likely to be not available.

If there are any 2000HF owners out there who could be tempted by a good day out next Wedneday 5 October at a venue near Oxford, please contact Martin direct on 07798 797 262, or me via the forum.

I've renewed my request to the owner of a particularly nice HF within the Flavia Consortium. There is also a nice looking black example on eBay at the moment the owner of which might be worth approaching ....

Just to report: the photo-shoot took place today at cold and windy Enstone airfield. No less than nine variants of the Flavia were there, with some traveling from Dublin, Cornwall, Kent and Devon. This picture doesn't do justice to the event. You will have to await Martin's article in Classic & Sports-car, which might be in a couple of months time.
