For those of you who didn't get to Silverstone Classic and see two LC2s on track for the first time since 1985, here is a link to the Championship Series, along with plenty of photos of all the cars at the races this year. It remains to be seen if both LC2s will appear for the remainder of the year.

Although not a Lancia, I would draw your attention to one of the Action Clips entitled

Bob Berridge in the Mercedes C11 qualifying at Spa May 2011

Enjoy!

(And yes that is Rupert Clevely's Martini LC2 he swoops past at Eau Rouge.)

We have just one LC2 at "Dix Mille Tours du Paul Ricard" this week-end (8th/9th October) and it's the car of Henrik Lindberg as seen in bright red livery at the Silverstone Classic.
Here is the entry list.

Group C have just signed up again to race as a curtain raiser to Le Mans 2012. And don't forget Classic Le Mans next July.

Dix Mille Tours race result.
Henrik Lindberg's LC2 was Not Classified.
Starting 13th, he made up a place on the first lap, then up to 10th on Lap 2, which is where he stayed until disappearing off the Lap Chart after Lap 9. Reason unknown to me, dear reader. Maybe Peter can enlighten us.

Well, better late than never, I've discovered the somewhat vague reason for Henrik's retirement, he "suffered from mechanical issues during the race on Sunday."

Moving on to the final race of the season, the Algarve Historic Festival. Unfortunately he succumbed to a similar fate. However, on a more positive note, Rupert Clevely "narrowly missed taking his first Group C podium after being hampered with a drive through penalty". He finished 8th overall (5th in Class), having risen to fourth mid-race. Here's hoping we see the pair of them again next year, in LC2s of course.

Here are the race results and photos from the 2011 season.

Judging by the latest news, we will at least see Rupert Clevely in the Martini Racing LC2 during 2012.
He's recently puchased a Peugeot 905 and hopes to race it at a couple of events next year, maybe with another driver at the wheel, as he intends to do the majority of the season in the LC2. Good man!

The 905 is basically an early 90's F1 car with mudguards and a roof so would not be an easy car to drive on the limit, would need an experianced driver to really make it perform, the LC2 would be quite easy in comparison!

That looks to be Rupert Clevely's example, now sporting a more appropriate rear-wing (sprint/high down-force spec.).
This should assist in reducing the porpoising effect (spotted by Martin Dowling and subsequently myself at last year's Silverstone Classic). I'm no aero-dynamicist/suspension engineer, but the low-drag Le Mans spec. wing that was fitted, would almost certainly affect that aspect of the car's behaviour.

Chassis *0002* has been sold by DK Engineering. I wonder who and where to. Anybody know?

I spoke to Rupert at the classic and he showed me the high downforce nose which was in the transporter and that he planned to use it in 2012. Hopefully the 2nd LC2 from the classic that raced returns in a period livery (given it never raced in Martini livery)

First race of the season is 5th/6th May at the Donington Historic Festival.

Quali on Saturday (5th) from 12:40 to 13:20 hrs.

Race on Sunday (6th) from 15:45 to 16:45 hrs.

Having looked at the provisional entry list, just the one LC2; Rupert Clevely's Martini example (see photo above), co-driven by Bob Berridge. If true, it may go a tad faster. No dis-respect to Rupert, but he openly admits to being a "gentleman driver".
