Some of you may have seen my previous post re restoring my Delta HF1600ie.

Well, I spoke to the garage today and it seems that rust has taken hold in a number of places, some structual, other purely surface.

I've asked them to quote based on what I need for an MOT and also the "full monty" in order to get everything back to A (gulp!)

Whilst the car has been in the garage it has as always drawn very favourable comments and praise which will make it even harder to not get the work done even if its a lot of cash.

Will let you all know!

Sounds like, Front Windscreen aperture, top of roof by tailgate,
rear suspension turrets and possibly seat belt mounting points, and floor behind wheelarch below rear wash bottle Huh? I hope it's not worse than that, good luck.

Turrets and rear arches for definite - they all need doing there!  Often the base of the front screen by the A pillars, might also be front of sills/back of front wings.  And door bottoms can get frilly.  All the places mine went, anyway.  Back of roof maybe not.  Rear wheel arch lips often get crusty and the front crossmember can go sometimes.  Other than that they're pretty rustproof...

Hi

I suspect its everything!!

The strange thing with the car was that it all started 'going' at the same time.

I can remember being in an Argos car park Christmas before last and noticing that part of the rear inner wheel arch had disappered! The same week the other side went too! You have to laugh otherwise I'd cry having washed and waxed the car and had it serviced more times than i can remember!!

Hi,
I'm restoring my Delta HF turbo ie at the moment & I'm doing all of the bodywork repairs myself  Huh? .So far I've rebuilt both rear wheel arches, both sills & the area below the rear hatch. I've had to replace all the doors (rear hatch aswell) apart from the offside rear door, still at least one of them was fine  Wink. At the moment I'm fitting a replacement roof panel & repairing the front scuttle panel which is gone in 3 areas  Sad. Hope yours is in better nick than mine  Wink.
                                                                                    Cheers,
                                                                                               Rob

Mark , I've been a Bristol member for five years and never seen Rob's HF - just pictures ... nice to know there is progress though Rob (although you always go quiet when asked at the Meet!)
