The Roger Albert Clark Rally, known by one and all as the 'RAC' is continuing at full speed into its third day despite the Artic weather. Good news is that of the ninty odd cars both Steve Perez in the Stratos and the Graham brothers in the 1.3 Fulvia are still going. Perez suffered suspension problems but the car is very quick while the Fulvia has had several 'offs' into the snowbanks and lost time with an elusive electrical glitch, now sorted. I have now returned home to work on the magazine and update galleries, we will have some great images up later today, leaving Peter Collins and Mike Archer to report the final two days. The organisers under Colin Hepperstall are moving heaven and earth to keep the rally going but Monday is looking ominious with heavy snow expected in the Scottish Borders. We wish them luck. www.retro-speed.co.uk

Here are pictures of Steve Perez in the Stratos (sounding magnificent) and the Grahams in the Fulvia, both heading out from Pickering on Saturday for the special stages at Olivers Mount in Scarborough.

Into the final day and although Kielder is cancelled the organisers have laid on two five mile forest substitutes. The Stratos is just in the top twenty and second in class and the Fulvia struggles on. Will they make the finish in Carlisle this afternoon? They will, even if the service crews have to carry them there.

Both Lancias survived the atrocious conditions with the Stratos finishing 17th overall and third in class while the Fulvia of the Graham brothers was 43rd but 2nd in class. The only car in the top ten that was not an Escort was an Opel Ascona 400.
