Hi Richard

My old one is slightly bent. at first I thought it was the brake disc but the runout measured on the hub is nearly .5 mm. The bearing feels ok so I am experimenting with shims between the hub and disc to try and correct it. If this fails then I will need another hub, I am near Southampton which end of the country are you?

I cant se how this would bend before the disk as such a strong stub? Maybe the bearing needs looking at as I have found the the inner race can wear the stub and make the hub useless. It also shows the bearing is faulty but hard to see under nominal loadings such as manual inspection.

With the hub fitted to the car and a dial gauge on the disc if I try to rock the disc there is less than .1mm movement but on rotation the runout is about .5mm. I have tried to find where the problem is by gauging the hub using a piece of glass as a surface plate, this is a bit hit and miss but seems to show the stub is about .2mm off centre. There is a slight step in the stub running surface which I thought was part of the machining but if this is meant to be smooth all the way across then this may be the problem.

The step is your problem I am sure - esp if it is c.5-1cm width and at the inboard end. The stub should be parallel on its length.

Sean,

I've just sold my Fulvia c/with a load of spares there is a hub and front disc in the spares (Southampton)
I'm pretty sure the new owner will trade.

All sorted, thanks Richard for the hub and thanks Tim for the tip about the wear pattern.
