Looks like Toyota are going through a 'Lancia' moment. Big trouble looming.

According to my paper today this pedal is shared by Peugoet 107 and the citroen C1, but I thought these were based on the Toyota Aygo that hasn't been mentioned so far I note on the BBC news Toyota now say the problem with the Prius braking is down to the software. At least Lancia admitted there was a problem, seems like Toyota knew about the problems but had kept quite, it will take them years to live this one down. Brian 8227 8

it will take them years to live this one down. I doubt that, people the world over love their Toyotas. I don't know why; they must all be deranged. But then there's no accounting for taste Neil

8 million cars worldwide!! & Toyota have known about this problem for years, but quite literlly sat back & did nothing! A congressional committe in the States has requested internal paperwork from Toyota dating back to 2000. Apparently Toyota faces massive fines for the delay in recalling the effected models.
Typically i think Toyota will pull through & coverage (certainly in UK & Irish media) has been very kind to Toyota, less so in the USA where Toyota bashing is now in full swing & GM, Ford & Chrysler are all giving out extra incentives to lure "worried" Toyota customers to their dealerships".
I can't help thinking if any of the FGA brands were involved in something like this the media in UK & Ireland wouldn't be so kind!

Topical humour ....
The car in my front room is a Toyota!
I'm so angry with Westminster, I could buy my MP a Toyota. (courtesy of the D.Tele)
It's noticeable that the Americans seem to want to exploit the opportunity to "Japan-Bash", ironic as the offending part is actually American made.

Im now waiting for a group of US Prius owners to sue Toyota over exagerated fuel consumption claims. Fact is all manufacturers do the same thing and the sooner they are forced to tell the truth the better.

very true, i worked for a Toyota dealership when the last generation Prius came out, & Toyota claimed you could get 70mpg, so the sales director at the time took one for two weeks & never once go about mid 40s!!

just an update on the Toyota recall, so its 8m Toyota's, now there's 437000 Prius, & now Federal Ingestigators in the US are looking into the power steering system of the 2009/2010 Corolla 4dr!
apparently over 40mph 70 owners have experienced the car veering to the right or left!!!
This is brilliant though, this is a reply to a topic on ANE, an industry paper which i'm a subscriber of..... (an American post BTW!)
Floyd wrote: This foreign company bringing there deathtraps over here and deliberately murdering at least 19 Americans, since they have known about this for years and covered it up, they need to make an example out of them. After all the junk and tainted crap that has been flooding our country from Asia to pull all these deathtraps off our roads is completely reasonable. GM had the corvair, Ford had the pinto, Toyota has every vehical they make, time to get rid of them. 2/9/2010 2:22 PM EST
