I have just received the latest copy of Viva Lancia which has a picture on the front of the Aurelia which originally belonged to Mike Hawthorn. To cut a long story short my 1958 first series Alfa Romeo Giulietta TI has the same wipers but sadly I recently lost one on the M3. I am specifically looking for a 11" SWF wiper blade and the wiper arm though I do not need the part which bolts to the shaft. Can anyone suggest a source for these parts? I do know early Porsche 356s used SWF wipers and though the blade is the right length the arm is too short. The arm on the Aurelia looks the right length.

Thanks

All the best

Try Ron Francis 01497 820792  or Omicron 01508 570351.

I do need to replace my wipers - so any further comment son these? - I was going to send my exisitng wiper arms and blades to Vintage Supplies ( Paul beck)  and ask to get the nearest match - in ali rather than chrome if poss. But I'm open to better ideas!

Adrian,

The nearest you will get to the SWF wiper arms and blades for an Aurelia are surprisingly VW type 2 (split screen van). I now have a set on my 1958 Giulietta TI and they look fine.

I've been looking at the various wipers and arms available - on my car both the arms and the blades are 10inches long and are (probably the original) SWF type. The Porsche 356 has arms of 11 inches and blades of 9 inches - so although these are smaller they would work. The Cundy Aurelia looks as if it has the smaller blades. It's not easy to tell from original brochures which is right - so any comments welcome!

By way of an up-date - the Porsche 356 wiper blades ( ie the metal holder for the rubber) are only 9 inches long which I think is shorter than the original ones which I think were 10 inches, which seems right for the screen. But, if you haven't got anything better, then try Roger Bray Restorations - 01 404 822 005. But the good news as far as I'm concerned, Halfords sell rubber refills, which are quite cheap!! - and with a bit of fiddling, fit the original SWF metal blade holders very well ( and clear the water off!)

When I worked for Vauxhalls SWF & Tex were alternate suppliers, parts were always optional but rarely interchangable, and always used in vehicle sets.

Popped into Cavalittos yesterday and collected  a pair of correct design good quality chrome reproduction  Aurelia B20 (& B24S Convertible) arms with 11" overall length (so approx 10" from wiper drive shaft to anchor point for blades?)  together with a pair of NOS Trico curved screen 10" wiper blades.
