They do look good togeather.

An interesting case of the reverse was when I was giving sanctuary to an S1 Fulvia Coupe on the drive (a friend I still dare not name hadn't "declared" it at home) next to my (now departed...) SIII B20 Aurelia, both in red, and each looked better when the other was moved away.

Maybe they shouldn't have sat Eugene and Beatrice next to each other at The Wedding?

I can't believe it's 4 weeks since we were last there! But it is, so hope to see you at the Ace this Thursday at 8pm ish, and there's about a 90% chance I'll be there in something Italian!

It's Italian Car Night again at the Ace Cafe this Thursday, but this month neither Martin nor I can make it - he's on holiday and I'm off to Omicron country for the Latitude festival. So can anyone else fly the (Lancia) Flag?! We had five Lancia there last time, I seem to recall (including two Monte Carlos)... (and a very nice Alfa 8c, but that's another story).

It's that time again, THIS THURSDAY, 11th August.

Your cars should still be nice and polished from the Concours so let's try and have a good turn out.

I'll be there from 7.30ish.

After further thought Martin & I have decided we probably don't want to drive nice Lancias around London at the moment so we will NOT be at the Ace tomorrow night after all. Hope normal service resumed soon!

A few changes;

Mark has stepped down as coordinator for London region but I'm carrying on.

The general lack of attendance during the winter months combined with/because of the bad lighting in the car park leads me to think we should go into hibernation until an April re-launch so there will be no formal meet this thursday, although Italian Night at the Ace still continues.

However, I would like to carry on with the christmas tradition, (after all it's been around now for at least a couple of thousand years) and suggest we meet at The Belvedere Italian restaurant just down the road at Hanger Lane Gyratory in mid december, date to be confirmed.

What do people think of that? any takers for a nice christmas do? I'll arrange a sensibly priced menu.

Anyone have any thoughts for a different meeting venue / weekend? during the winter months?

i hope nothing nasty has happened to disuade anyone from driving lancias in town.however the day is for doing and the night is for sleeping so i have heard and a policy which i practice. so could there be there any interest in [weather permitting] daytime picnics/inexpensive snacks followed by 'do your own thing' at venues in the SE area[70% of membership i am informed] at weekends or weekdays[probably difficult]  perhaps at public motoring/vintage/antique fairs/special interest/exibitions type events[preferably family friendly]-and there are plenty around.perhaps a forum section  open to suggestions and responses would be good.i guess area co ordinators have sometimes worked hard with unreliable responses so this could be a chance to organise a social without any one person being responsible for making such a day a success.and perhaps a proper welcome should be extended to newcomers until they are established at such events as i have noticed in many social enviroments the onus has been upon the newcomer to be assertive so as to access the circle.best regards richard

Martin,
You know my views already on the subject of lighting, or the lack of it at the Ace during the winter, so I think it's a good move to leave visiting the Ace until the lighter nights return.
I'm up for a Christmas do as suggested.
Probably a bit far out, but sunday lunch at the Pub the Alfa boys use at London Colney where we have visited them, would do nicely.
If anyone fancies a bit of a run, Wrest Park, English Heritage where I volunteer is open saturdays and sundays right through the year this winter for the first time, we have a very nice Cafe, gift shop and if you don't mind the kids getting frost bite, a great childrens play area with a zip wire.
Car parking is in the walled garden, and unless you want to visit the house and 92 acres of garden it's all free, it's even better if you're a member of English Heritage as you get in the house & garden free anyway.
We could also fit in the Motor Museum at Lower Stondon with it's varied, and sometimes odd collection!

Martin,

I am slow to pick up on this – sorry. I think you are right to forget about the Ace for the winter months. Whatever virtues the Ace has, they are not at their best on dark cold evenings.

Thinking about a Christmas tradition, I worry a bit about the Belvedere at Hanger Lane Gyratory (a location that some of us would pay to avoid!), although if others are in favour then I’ll keep quiet. But I am more tempted by Brian’s suggestion of a lunch at the London Colney pub, which is easy to get to from north London and lunchtimes might be easier for me..

When I said yes to Christmas I missed the bit about the Hanger lane Gyratory Shocked
I hate going around there at the best of times, besides which how long it will take you to reach that point, from whichever direction your coming from, is highly problematic Huh?

Would be up for the Belvedere, or would go elsewhere if Hangar Lane proves too much of a Death Row. Let's get a date sorted soon before Christmas gets cluttered!
