In The Battle for Malta this evening, 2030 to 2130, in the early scenes there is a clip of Mussolini in, I think, an open Astura.

Tim, thank you for the links.

May I add that one, with Ascari's win 1954 of the Mille Miglia on D24:

It is just marred by the central text, during the whole film ...

Tim, thanks for posting these films.

It is particularly good to see the much cherished Shell Film Unit films freely available on youtube. The Mille Miglia film is fantastic! Both are directed by Bill Mason, father of his more famous son Nick Mason.

Chaps,
Just a future note , it's great to see these film links and at some point (this year I hope) I will expand the 'media' search facility of the database so we can load 'Film' links from the internet into the database (thus make them searchable or able to produce a spreadsheet of everything). So, at the moment, please keep them coming onto this thread Shocked)

A lot of the first film with the D24s seems to have been taken in the Valentino Park in Turin, where Lancia seemed to take a lot of their promotional films.

'Madness in the Desert' Paris to Dakar was a fascinating BBC 4 documentary I watched last Sunday. It traced the history of the rally from its inception in 1977 to 2008 when it was bought to an end in Africa by terrorism. Ari Vatanan won in 1987 in a modified Peugeot 205 T16 which in the previous year had been banned as a Group B rally car in the WRC. Link to a surprise shot of a Delta S4 and another of Marku Alen in 1986 as they covered the ban. I wonder if Lancia ever thought of entering their then redundant S4's?? Have any Lancia's ever been entered in the Paris Dakar?
You can catch it again on the BBC website this week but it is to be repeated on BBC4 Monday 4 March.

Sky Arts 1 is showing a 12-part series called 'Corleone', with English subtitles. Some great footage of a Lusso Aprilia, as well as an Appia Camioncino. Lots of Fiats, too. Runs on Friday night at 10am, but check your region in case of change.

Found this on Youtube:

An Aurelia berlina, not a B12 as indicated, but fun nonetheless! Good for your italian too!

Strange position of the steering wheel sometimes, and those wipers do not quite fit the car.

On the new trailer for 'Rush', a Flavia Berlina makes a brief appearance (driven fast!) at 1.31.
