I am placing this advert on behalf of a friend who has inherited this car after a recent breavement and has no great interest in running a classic. If you email me, I will forward your messages on. The car was his father's and he is not a petrol head, but I have driven the car and car answer most of your questions concerning current condition if not history.

The car is a Tax exempt 1972 2000 HF Coupe (1 of 495 RHD models)

Metallic silver with black mock leather interior (cream mock leather ceiling).

MoT'd until April 15th 2009.

First registered in Scotland (Glen Henderson, Ayrshire) shipped late 1972. The car has had 3 owners from new and was stored in a heated &carpeted garage for the first 25 years.

The car has never had any major restoration work and all the panels are the originals. No known accidents.

The car has had some respray work done in the past and would benefit from cosmetic repairs to surface rust.

The car looks good from a few feet, but closer inspection shows filler and some bubbling around wheel arches, windscreen rubbers and both bonnet / bootlid. The rust is not severe and the car still looks presentable. With a good respray the car would be worth £3.5K - £4K as you know.

The strong point of this car is its mechanical condition. Extensive history from new includes original manufacturer documentation. Mechanically the car is in very good honest condition. Steering is exactly as it should be for a 2000HF Coupe (e.g nicely balanced and precise).

The bodyshell feels very solid and there are no knocks or bangs from the suspension.

The engine starts cleanly and there is no smoke. A very reliable runner that pulls strongly in every gear. Only mechanical problem is that the reverse gear is sometimes difficult to engage, however, a replacement gearbox is included in the price

The interior is very good and all electrics (including windows) work.

Was insurance valued about 3 years ago at £10'000, but the car is offered at a price to sell as it is now surplus to needs.

The sale includes an extensive list of parts (too many to list; partially dismantled engine, gearbox, power steering column and subframe to name a few).

The car is located near to Prestwick Airport so easy access for Ryanair flights from Stansted, Bournemouth etc.

Also close to the rail station for the Glasgow line.

Offers around £2650
