I need a front passenger side window winder mechanism for my 1993 Series 3 Thema 16v Turbo. The motor is OK but the cable as become detached from the lifter. Looks as though it may have been repaired in the past.
Anyone know if the S3 winder is different from the S2?
Robin.

Dear Robin,
I need one too! I believe the S2 & S3 winders are the same, it's the S1 which differs, at least that's what the ePer FIAT spares disk shows. The TDC should have some. Contact Lindsay or Mike Peddie.
Kindest regards,

There is certainly a difference between my Series 2 & 3. The series 2 has a coiled spring type thing and the series 3 has a steel cable. They are interchangeable though except that the electrical connection plugs are different.

Hi Matthew, Thanks for clearing that up. Do you think the cable one is better? The spiral wire type is very difficult to reassemble. Robin, I see that David (Wheeler ?) is offering Thema parts for free under the THEMA 16v turbo thread. Kindest regards,

The cable one is certainly faster. The spiral ones are as slow as a week in the jail!!

Anyone know what the S3 part numbers are? I'd rather replace my slow spiral wire S2 ones with the cable ones while I'm at it. The S3 part doesn't appear on my ePER which only goes up to S2.

You'd probably be better off trying Alfa 164 ones. I'd be astounded if they were different and there are loads of breakers for Alfas out there.

Thanks Brian & Matthew for that info.
(Thankfully I'm now on wireless broadband.)
Unfortunately we don't have many Alfa 164s down here either, but it's worth a look.

Never did manage to locate a replacement so, as the cable was still intact, ended up fixing it to the plastic lifter block with a couple of very small self tapping screws and a metal plate.
Robin.

Robin, Sometimes fixing what you've got is best - "better the devil you know..." However I've managed to find a LH one, but I believe the RH ones are no longer available.
