well firstly happy new year to all, i've done a bit of mild modification to my dedra, started with a k&n panel filter, larger bore exhaust system with only a rear silencer, increased fuel and boost pressure (not massively) and had a pleasant suprise with how well the car was starting to go, anyway before the clutch actually went in the car i had a new 1 fitted at allitalia in wrexham, they also fitted a lightened flywheel and uprated clutch, at the same time they fitted a tubular manifold for me, anyway had it back on the friday night all going well, taking care not to give it too much stick as i wanted the clutch to bed in and not glaze, anyway dissaster struck as the car developed a terrible missfire and sounded as if it had lost compression on 1 cylinder. When inspected it turned out that 1 exhaust valve had finally given up at 158,000 miles so the head was rebuilt with new valves, guides and seats and reassembled, the difference in the car now is unbelievable, its only running 1 bar of boost but is blindingly fast, the way the turbo comes in and the way it rev's up is unbelievable, totally transformed it, my thanks to howard at allitalia again for building me a propper Q car

on my quest to make my ultimate Q car i managed to expand the size of the standard intercooler, i hadn't realised i was doing this until it burst  Roll Eyes , basically the standard cooler is rubbish qaulity pressed alloy with crimped in plastic ends, i'm not running huge boost approx 1 bar but the standard cooler just wont take it over a long period of time, so time for a re-think, front mounted jobby c/o ebay, universal type , i measured up the space between the rad and bumper and from the cross member down, found a suitable hole filler and fitted it, this one is rated to 3bar so should work fine  Grin

david its no where near the drivers car that an evo is however in a straight line especially at high speed its faster, its probably only the same power but more aerodynamic and maybe lighter Huh? , to me its more fun as people tend to look at me as if i should be wearing a cloth cap and smoking a pipe  Cheesy , its just pure fun that doesn't tend to attract the corsa boys wanting a race if you catch my drift

Hi Chugga
Have you done anything to upgrade the brakes/suspension? I'm contemplating an exhaust and a remap for my Dedra Turbo, but I'm not that impressed with the brakes, so I figure they need improving if more power is added, and I'd be interested in seeing what others have done.
Would love to find out more about your Dedra (and that intercooler as well).
Cheers

hi duncan, when i bought the car someone had put grooved disks all round on it, i fitted koni adjustables on standard turbo springs  and too be fair the brakes and handling are pretty damn good, biggest single improvement was the tubular manifold the boost really kicks in low down now, anything that i can help with just ask and if i can i will answer, james
