Aprilia Boot seal

My Aprilia boot leaks copiously. I did try fitting the seal that Cigognani sells (I fitted it to the bodywork, not to the boot lid, which may have been an error) but I then found that I could not close the boot. Some say that the Aprilia boot did not have a rubber seal originally, as water was supposed to run down the channel in the bodywork and out the bottom, but I find that this does not work. I have looked at many Aprilias but have not found the answer. Does anyone have a solution? Peter Blenk
