From 28th September the GB sticker on the back your car will no longer be valid and will require a UK version.

GB plates will no longer be valid the United Nations (UN) has outlined. Instead, motorists will have to replace it with a UK sticker to drive on foreign roads,  UK stands for the United Kingdom, which comprises Great Britain and Northern Ireland, unlike GB which covered England, Scotland and Wales only. (Post Brexit??)

My Skoda's GB plate with EU blue and star surround is getting very tatty but worn with pride! Resent having to change my period aluminium GB plates on Aprilia, Aurelia and old plastic one on Flavia.

This is a UK Government decision, not a UN decision.  Nero was falsely accused of fiddling while Rome burned.  The accusation is more apt for the current Prime Minister.

It's a bit of a shame as I have this little treasure saved up for future use.

Hi All

I wonder if folk like the French will really get too excited if we keep the GB plates/stickers instead of using what appear to be hard to find UK ones?

The government website is not yet updated about this.

Typical of our so-called Conservative government to arbitrarily change the well-known and recognised GB and IRL plates and replace them with letters referring to an increasingly unstable political entity and not to the countries we live in.

Will we have to wear Union flag undershorts when we travel as well I wonder? Would a Bleu Lancia rattle can do for updating red passports?
