Hi everyone,

My clutch friction plate needs replaced, so I was wondering if this can be done by removing the gear box from underneath.  I suspect this is the case, but would appreciate the views from those more knowledgeable.

With thanks.

That is probably the best way. If you do not have a ramp then you will need very tall /large axle stands a trolley jack with a transmission cradle. Depending on the type of gear box you may well need to remover the remote shift before dropping the box... Allow at least 2 days to get the box out and 2 to put back.

Was also pondering the same question. I have a better gearbox to install and should do the clutch, mine is on 60000 miles and has pretty long travel. Can anyone confirm the clutch diameter, I have had one supposedly listed for Flavia 2000 but would like to be certain

It is the short run model Flavia 2000 with what is called the big 4 speed gearbox. Ran from 1969 to early 1971 when Flavia name was dropped. Do not have chassis no to hand

It is possible that it is 215mm as later 2000 five speed

...and I think from memory that the plate is installed 'back-to-front'. Check orientation of existing plate when you remove it.
