Today I took my 1.3HF in for an MOT. The car does very few miles and is like new.

It failed on a split in the lower ball joint boot. No worries, this is an easy job to deal with. An hour later I was putting it back together when I noticed a tiny split in the rubber of the upper ball joint (facing the wheel so no easily spotted on the MOT.

Bum. Another hour to change that boot as well (I always keep a few spare boots as they are used on all HF andS1/Flavias etc).

However, on separating the upper joint it dangled free and was no longer a ball joint. The car has done less than 2000 miles since fitting some years ago.

Quick call to Omicron and hopefully I will be able to put it back together tomorrow and get that MOT pass.
