ok, very simply how on earth do i remove the starter motor??? Does anyone have an diagrams??? I had a look & tried by taking off two nuts at the left hand side of the motor as you look into the engine bay, & a tiny little nut on the right hand side but it wouldn't budge, so i guess i'm doing something wrong

On a plus side the electronic heating control is now actually working!!!(not sure how that happened!)

cheers guys ones again!

All the manual says is "To remove the starter motor simply disconnect the supply cables and loosen the bolts fixing it to the gearbox"

Sounds like a job for a soft faced hammer and a bit of gentle tapping as it's probably a little bit of Ally Corrosion and muck holding it.

she started!!!!!!! wow, after a year or so of nothing, i got under the bonnet this morning, undid the cabels to the starter motor, have her a few "taps" of a hammer, tighted everything up, reconnected to the battery, & she burst into life! i've never been so amazed to hear a car turn over!!

now to the exhaust, from the noise she makes theres a hold somewhere but not sure where so i've taken the exhaust off the bottom of the car to inspect it, apart from being old & rusty, i can't see any holes, but i know very little about them so i'm a bit lost!! I know ii could get a replacment on ebay but i want to see if i can mend it first!

BTW has anyone ever bought an exhaust off ebay??

Make sure it's not the flexible section in the front pipe,  it's a frequent place for the exhaust to go.

I bought one from a factors in Germany off of ebay, apart from the brackets on the silencer not being quite right, which I got around anyway, no problem,
It was delivered via UPS and was a reasonable price, I wrote up on the forum about it so if you do a search for Dedra Exhaust you'll probably find it.

hi Brian, thanks a million for that, to be honest i would never even have thought of looking at the flexi part of the exhaust, but today i took down all of the exhaust (everything was easy to come off until i got to the flexi unit - boy did that not want to budge!! but with alot of WD40 the nuts finally came around to my way of thinking!!), & there it was, a part of the exhaust where it joins the flexi part has simply rusted away. Looking at it i guess it could be repaired but the rest of the pipe is pretty fragile looking, so i might go onto ebay & see what i can get!

well i went onto ebay & saw a company in the UK who do the exhaust for approx £70 incl delivery to Ireland, which having looked around alot seems to be a resonable price.

So, i wait to see if it really is clever buying items off ebay!!

I think i might spray the rest of the old exhaust silver to make it look better (not that alot of people will be looking under the car!)

Mark,

That's a pretty good price if it's OK, who is it from?

Oops, just put the new flexi unti on the car & discovered the end of the unit is a triangular shape, & the silencer is square!!! I saw Brian you might have had the same problem, if so how did you get around it??
