My 1974 S3 currently has bumpers fitted.
I like the clean look of a de-bumpered Fulvia and I’m thinking of removing them.
Should I do this or keep it standard ?

Originality is always a winning point in a classic car. If the bumpers are removed, it will be necessary to reposition the indicator lights and the number plate lights. It is difficult to revert back to original conditions. Andrea

I don't like the idea of nothing to stop minor collisions other than the bodywork, personally I'm not a fan of debumpered Fulvia's, although I quite like the look with 1/4 bumpers.

I'm with you ICEMAN, I'm in the process of de-bumpering mine. I posted a few days ago about the rear bumper support tubes and whether they can be removed without resorting to a saw - can anyone help?

I am afraid you will need to be creative with the back bumper supports and as Andrea says it will be not very easy to revert.

Re de-bumpering, this can be argued as a period look for going rallying but generally only up to Series 2. For me Fulvia 3 looks best with bumpers for some reason...

On Wheeler Dealers they did a "rally look" makeover the other day.  Its the series with Ant Anstead in the USA.

I considered going bumperless with my S2, but in the end decided to go with factory spec.

I did quite a bit of research, and assembled the necessary parts.  The kit is now available for sale if anybody is interested as I was about to list it on Ebay.

The front bumper hole covers are original HF pattern.  I didn’t want to cut off the rear bumper tubular mounts so I found some stainless steel disks to finish them with (they are actually curtain rod end pieces!).  The front sidelights are new VW Golf Mk1 units which I’m told can be modified to fit the Fulvia apertures by shaving a little off the casings.  I bought two sets of rear number plate lights: chrome plastic (new) and black plastic (used).

I have  a number of threads and reference photos relating to the fitting of front sidelights that I’d be happy to share.
