Hi Guys,
This is probably something that’s been discussed in the past so apologies if it is, but using up my spare time to look for parts for my cars (2x GTEs) I’ve turned my attention to the vehicle supplied tool kit. Of course as we know with even modern cars it’s very annoying to buy a second hand car and find out a previous owner has lost the tool kit or one or two bits from it, but with a 50 yr old car it’s very difficult to replace.
Well one of my cars has the original tool kit and because I’m not where the car is I can’t say exactly what I’ve got. Also and this is the point of the post, I don’t really know what I should have so does anyone know exactly what a series 1 Fulvia tool kit should consist of? Photos would be appreciated.

Hi Tom,  I’ll send you a page from the 1970 parts book that help you solve what may be missing.

Brian’s 2c might have a better view of the standard Lancia tool inventory for a GTE.

I think I’m having trouble with PMs as well. I’ll have a better look through that list. Yes I’m hoping Brian will reply and also the blue RHD GT that Chris bought from Portugal and sold to Simon is likely to have a very good tool kit.

I am sure some of those tools are optional. I personally have never seen 10 15 4

Hi Neil and Tim thanks for that.

Neil do you have a parts list to match the number on the drawing from the parts book?

I’m also almost sure I don’t have all those parts even in the car that has the tool box but I need to check when I get home.

I think the jack is supposed to be a Battaini, like this but it’s common with Ferrari’s so they fetch stupid money.

So as I said I’ve been buying spanners...gone a bit mad with it really but I’ve got a 10x8 (part numbered 2284723)and an 11x9 (part numbered 2186271) and a number of 17 x13 (no stamped number) and I’m now wondering if 17x13 is a Fulvia spanner size at all. I’ve not seen for sale yet a 13x14 or a 17x19.

I’ve pulled some photos off the internet so I’ll try to match up those parts in the diagram to a real thing if I can find a match.

The spanners 8x10, 9x11, 13x14 and 17x19..... There are no part numbers listed for these in S1 parts book I have but they are 2284723, 2186271, 2186272, 2284722 respectively from my S2 parts book ....

I've only ever seen the tappet tool once in the flesh and would love to find one ....

The 17x19's come up for sale quite often if you follow eBay.

I wonder if the jack varied between models or between series as the one I have pictured is slightly different. Also did Fulvias have a grease gun as some other models had at about that time?

Looked in my 2c handbook, although it lists them slightly different order, they are the same as those shown in the handbook previously.

My jack is the same as shown in Frank's photo and I have never seen the one shown in the illustration, and suspect if it ever was used, it was only used for the Normale.
 
My handbook lists that the
Valve clearance adjusting spanner and feeler gauge, lever for replacing the brake friction pads. We're optional, and that I've never seen.

Never seen any mention of a grease gun as Frank queried might be the case.
 
"Fay" never came with any tools, and most of what I have came courtesy of my good friend Alan Cooper.
I don't have either screwdrivers, pliers, screws for fitting the seat belts, (not surprising).

I also don't know why previous owners of any car feel the need to keep the tools that should stay with the vehicle.

My 1969 Rallye Coupe that i bought from Michael Newberry back about 1997 never had any tools, so it had a scratch set of tools from my tool box.

Hi guys, sorry I’m making a meal out of this and you have all sent great information whilst I’m struggling to cope with the limitations of the attachment size.

I’ll carry on

3. Flat bladed screwdriver and 4. Phillips screwdriver
This is I think the most problematic item(s) to identify as original as the quality is not good and they were often missing or replaced. I have same experience of this with my Alfa Romeo 2000GTV.
I’m attaching one photo anyway but other than the fact that the handles look typical it’s not possible to say that these are original screwdrivers. I don’t think the longer one should be there anyway so it suggests to me that they are not original.

5. Not shown very well in the sketch but I’m sure this is the long box spanner or spark plug spanner. See photo attached.
6, 7, 11 & 12 are the open-ended spanners. Consensus now that 6 is 9 x11, 7 is 13x14, 11 is 8x10 and 12 is 17x19... the best photo we have is the one posted by Frank or the attached photo below that Neil sent of his set for his Series 2 coupe.

8. Ratchet for the jack and wheel nut (or bolt) socket. Also shown clearly in Frank’s great photos and also shown in the photo below. Note that it should be blue and the end lever, presumably for levering off hub caps is original. You see alternatives without that but I think the series 1 cars should be that version. I also think that the ratchet, jack and wheel nut/bolt socket are a set being made by Battaini.
9. Wheel nut/bolt socket as mentioned above and already shown in a few of the photos. I wondered what the disc on the shaft is for. Any thoughts?

10. Tappet pin key. I thought we might all go to our grave never having seen one of these but two minutes on eBay revealed this photo below.
Actually I found more than one size, 12mm or 14mm lock nuts. Yours for only £85 incl P&P from Italy for the man who has everything. Which expert can tell me if the Fulvia tappet lock nuts are 12mm or 14mm?
