Two years ago I paid a not inconsiderable sum for a replacement, all singing, all dancing, high tech voltage regulator only too have it recently fail. I would like to fit an original style unit in its place. Does anybody have such a thing. I believe it is common to series one Fulvia. Thanks in advance.

Peter see my article in VL June 2018 page 12. Dynamo regulators Ltd were very helpful in selecting the correct item for the Aurelia dynamo. I wanted to put it in the original tin can but you could just have it out in the open...The Fulvia/Flavia Bosch Dynamo regulator is very rare for original but a Brazilian (?!) Bosch copy VW unit can be made to work well.

Peter

Unless your car has been modified it should have a Marelli Dynamo. All Fulvia Dynamos are Bosch so my earlier comment re Brazilian VW units would not apply if you have an original Marelli.

The Marelli regulator (do you still have the unit that came from the car before you went "electronic"?) should be Marelli IR 19 E for early cars up to engine #6280 then IR 50 B  from engine# 15173 and then IR 50 D after that.

The parts book says that spares for these are directly from Marelli!!!!

Update: Going through my Appia parts I found a v/r ( redundant after fitting alternator) that seems to work perfectly. Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.
