What is the recommended torque for the head nuts on an aluminium head please?     I've been using about 65 lb/ft but the 3mm compressed carbon gasket is a bit squishy and has failed at the side.

65 ft lbs is what the Australians recommend. I have been using a 3 mm solid copper gasket recently, which seems to work OK. If I ever have another one made, I will go as thin as 2 mm.
