Due to acquiring a vehicle with the engine in bits, I am now wanting to buy an engine hoist/stand in order to remove the lump & do the necessary timing-belt etc & replace the damaged pistons/rods etc.
I suspect it will take some time, so buying a used one would be the best solution.

If there is one out there, that you think is surplus to requirements or could be used for a year or so, please get in touch.

I am in Essex near Saffron Walden & my numbers are:- 07526 159 891 or 01787 463 288.

Regards,

Stuart.

Just buy a crane off eBay, have it delivered included in the price and sell it once you're done with it. Cheaper than hiring!

for the engine stand, a load leveller may be useful too if you need to tilt the engine/box to remove it?

Engine stand, no problem with second hand but with hydraulics? Unless you know the history I'd buy new and let the next owner worry about it. And the first lift with any hoist - it's a static test, away from anything you value! Leave it under load for a while and never get your feet/legs under the load, especially when you're on the release valve! And when you dropping the valuable stuff onto the deck make sure there's nothing on the floor to puncture/crack the sump...

Oh, and check the state of the floor to make sure that you can pull the loaded hoist back or push the rolling chassis out from under.
