On a previous engine (Aprilia) the white metal ended up stuck to the crank. 

On this one any pearls of wisdom as to how to soak, pretreat, or split rods from crank without damage?    This engine has stood a looooog time.  The cam was seized in its housing and many of the rockers on their shafts.
